Emancipated from Mental Slavery: Selected Sayings of Marcus Garvey is the book which connects Marcus Garvey to the phrase he gave to the world. Though most widely known through Bob Marley’s “Redemption Songs” Garvey made the statement on October 31, 1937 at Menelik Hall in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This book contains a synthesis of Garvey thought extracted from three primary sources.
