Wearing Red Black and Green on August 13 is an act of Kujichagulia (self-determination.) The #RBGCHALLENGE sends a message of hope, makes a statement of global unity and demonstrates mental emancipation.

The call to wear Red, Black and Green on August 13 is made during an era when melanin, the aromatic bio-polymer and organic semiconductor found in bird feathers, fish scales, microorganisms, plants, as well as, our skin, hair and eyes is worth over $380 a gram more than gold. That means melanin is worth more than gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium, and coltan combined. Melanin puts the “B” in RBG and the Black in Red, Black and Green. The Afro, official currency of the United States of Africa, also known as the African Union, is currently poised to be worth $2.50 to $3.

This year the #RBGCHALLENGE is different. August 13, 2019 marks three-hundred sixty-five days until the 100th anniversary of the Red Black and Green flag of Black People…African People…Melanin People…Colored People…People of Color…Negro People…Afrodescendientes, at home and abroad.

On August 13, 1920 20,000 members of the Universal Negro Improvement Association gathered in New York City’s Madison Square Garden. That meeting was chaired by none other than the organization’s President-General Marcus Mosiah Garvey. From that meeting the document known as the Declaration of Rights of Negro People of the World was publicly presented for the first time. It is not a just a physical embodiment of a peoples’ hope and aspiration for freedom in all its dimensions. It also represents a SECOND Emancipation Proclamation.

Cover from the July 31, 1926 edition of the Negro World Newspaper presenting the Declaration of Rights of Negro Peoples of the World which gave us the Red, Black and Green on August 13, 1920.

From August first to the twelfth, meetings were held three and four times daily. As part of the first international convention of the UNIA, the meetings were filled with songs, prayers and speeches. They were held to take testimony and elicit response to a number of challenges experienced by the UNIA’s members globally. Inevitably, a community of the mind developed which brought forth the Declaration of Rights of the Negro People of the World. Among the declarations number 39 designates Red Black and Green as the colors of the entire African race. Through prayer and focused thought, the Red Black and Green became a spiritually charged vessel.

Acting with Kujichagulia prepares us to convene a plebiscite in Africa during August 2020. The goal of the plebiscite is to draft and present to the world on August 13, 2020 a THIRD Emancipation Proclamation: the Ubuntu Declaration. The Ubuntu Declaration does more than commemorate one hundred years of Red Black and Green, as well as, its birth certificate the Declaration of Rights of the Negro People of the World. It also expresses our deliberate intention to define a sovereign vision of Africa’s future and impose that vision on the world. What will happen when Black people, African people, Melanin people, at home and abroad, enter into a global state of Ubuntu (I am because we are and we are because I am) united by one flag? What will be the result of the Ubuntu Declaration on the world forty years hence on August 13, 2060?

Red, Black and Green wraps around Marcus Garvey’s vision of the United States of Africa. It is a vision formed from fabric woven of Africa for the Africans, those at home and those abroad, with One God! One Aim! One Destiny!, while fulfilling the prophecy “we are going to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery.” Just as Ubuntu defines all physical manifestations as being united through the sacred divine force of NTU, the RBG invokes in us a reminder we are united and always have been united. Unity is ours because Our Blood, Our Melanin and Africa Unites US.

Our blood Our melanin and Africa unites us!!!
The culturally coded symbolism embedded in the Red, Black and Green tells those who are willing to know the truth: Our Blood Our Melanin and Africa UNITES US!!!

Forty years after the Declaration of Rights of the Negro People of the World was publicly presented on August 13, 1920, a considerable number of the declarations became real. Nevertheless, some issues remain open for resolution, while others, previously nonexistent, have developed. Most significant among the new developments is the potential for a single African currency to establish the world’s strongest economy. The creation of a single African currency will restore Africa to its place at the head of human affairs, a status it held for hundreds of thousands of years prior to the current era.

Combined with the ninety-ninth year of Red Black and Green, the foregoing uniquely positions us to invoke the powerful knowledge we posses and usher in the era when all the generations of humanity are called blessed. We have all the knowledge, skills, resources and abilities to do so. Our capabilities obligate us to make this a planet which works for everyone.

The Abuja Treaty put a legal mechanism in place to create a single African currency. It was actually signed in 1991. Nearly a year later the Maastricht Treaty formed the European Union and led to the creation of the Euro. Based on that alone the Afro is behind schedule.

We have been anticipating and expecting the ongoing shift in awareness, perception and power for decades. Imagine what happens on August 13. Picture this scene…It’s August 13…and 12 MILLION PEOPLE have joined the UNIA. As a community of the mind we are wearing Red, Black and Green on August 13. Our unified action indicates to all who see us we have consolidated our energy. That energy sends a message of hope, makes a statement of global unity, and demonstrates mental emancipation. Our actions will then commence the era when all the generations of humanity can be called blessed.
