Should the White House Be Lit Red, Black and Green on August Thirteen?

August 13, 2015 marks 95 years of Red, Black and Green. We have been encouraging everyone to send a message, make a statement and demonstrate mental emancipation by wearing Red, Black and Green on that day.

Then we had an insight. Why should we wait until August Thirteen? It came to us in a flash. Why not start a petition to light the White House Red, Black and Green on August Thirteen? What could we put in a petition that would motivate people to sign such a petition? Suddenly from out of nowhere, “honor the who slaves built the White House.”

“We’re the slaves who built the White House and the economy of the South.” Barack Obama said that during his remarks at the 50th Anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery Marches. It’s true. laves were part of the crew which built the White House. And the United States Capitol. Michelle Obama mentioned it in the early days of the Obama Administration during a visit to the White House by schoolchildren from the District of Columbia. In a column, Washington Post columnist Paula Dvorak asked, “why should you care?”

We say we should care because it is time to let the healing begin. The United States of America has yet to engage in a process of healing form the atrocities of slavery. We use the term Mchakato Wa Uponyaji. That is a Swahili phrase which means “process of healing.” As we heal we realize what is it we are healing from. We are healing from the Maafa. The great disaster which deprived humans of their humanity through unbridled capitalism. Let The Healing Begin.

The Mhotep Corporation uses its Keyamsha The Awakening brand to heighten perceptions and expand awareness. By producing content that engages, entertains and educates we create value for value relationships with our audience for mutual benefit. Mhotep is derived from the name of the architect and builder of the first pyramid in Kemet, so-called ancient Egypt. I formed the Mhotep Corporation in 2003 to produce and distribute 3D animation videos based on traditional African stories. Since then it has evolved to being a media production company including books. In a previous life I worked as a systems analyst developing solutions for government and multinational organizations. Born and educated in Washington, D.C. I have traveled to several places including Haiti, the Bahamas, Mexico, Canada, Nigeria (several times), Ethiopia (several times), Benin, Togo, and South Africa. I am married with three children.
